The PCM4104PFBT is a high-performance, four-channel digital-to-analogue (D/A) converter designed specifically for professional audio applications. The PCM4104PFBT supports 16 to 24-bit linear PCM input data with a maximum sampling rate of 216 kHz. The PCM4104PFBT consumes less power than most comparable stereo audio D/A converters, making it an ideal choice for high-channel-count applications, as it reduces the overall power budget required for the D/A conversion subsystem.
The PCM4104PFBT employs a delta-sigma architecture, combining a high-performance multi-stage modulator with a switched-capacitor output filter. This architecture achieves lower out-of-band noise and high tolerance to system clock phase jitter. Each channel provides differential voltage outputs, suitable for high-performance audio applications. The differential outputs can be easily converted to single-ended outputs using external operational amplifier ICs.
The PCM4104PFBT includes a flexible audio serial port interface supporting standard and time-division multiplexing (TDM) formats. Support for TDM formats simplifies interfacing with DSP serial ports and enables cascading connections between two PCM4104PFBT devices. Additionally, the PCM4104PFBT offers two configuration modes: standalone mode and software-controlled mode. Stand-alone mode provides dedicated control pins to configure a subset of the PCM4104PFBT's available features, while software mode accesses internal control registers via the serial peripheral interface (SPI) port to access the full feature set.
The PCM4104PFBT is powered by a +5V analogue power supply and a +3.3V digital power supply. Digital I/O is compatible with the +3.3V logic family. The PCM4104PFBT is available in a TQFP-48 package.
