The BMP280 is an ultra-low-power, high-precision digital barometric pressure sensor that uses piezoresistive pressure sensing technology. It is suitable for mobile devices, navigation systems, weather monitoring, and industrial applications. The sensor integrates barometric pressure and temperature measurement functions and features a miniature package, low power consumption, and high environmental adaptability. It is an upgraded version of the BMP180, with significant optimisations in terms of accuracy, size, and power consumption.

BMP280 Product Features

Barometric pressure measurement range: 300–1100 hPa (corresponding to altitudes from -500 m to +9000 m).

Relative Accuracy: ±0.12 hPa (equivalent to ±1 metre altitude resolution).  

Absolute Accuracy: ±1 hPa (950–1050 hPa, 0–40°C).  

Temperature Measurement Range: -40°C to +85°C, with a resolution of 0.01°C.  

Operating Current: 2.7 µA (at a 1 Hz sampling rate).

Sleep mode current: 0.1 µA, suitable for battery-powered devices.  

Miniature packaging: 8-pin LGA package (2.0 × 2.5 × 0.95 mm), 63% smaller than the BMP180.  

Flexible interfaces: Supports I²C (0x76/0x77) and SPI (three-wire/four-wire) communication protocols.

Environmental adaptability:  

IPX8 waterproof rating (some versions).  

Built-in temperature compensation, temperature drift coefficient 1.5 Pa/K (12.6 cm/K).
