The ISO3088DWR devices are isolated half duplex differential line transceivers for TIA/EIA 485/422 applications.

The device is ideal for long transmission lines as the ground loop is broken allowing a larger common mode voltage range. The device's symmetrical isolation barrier is tested to provide 2500 VRMS of isolation between the bus line transceiver and the logic level interface for 60 seconds, in accordance with UL 1577.

Any wired I/O is subject to electrical noise transients from different sources. If the intensity and duration of these noises are sufficiently large, they can cause damage to the transceiver and/or sensitive circuitry in the vicinity. These isolation devices can greatly increase protection and reduce the risk of damage to expensive control circuits.
