The ST25R3920B NFC reader for automotive use is a high performance NFC general purpose device supporting NFC initiator, NFC receiver, NFC reader and NFC card emulation modes. Designed for use in CCC (Car Connectivity Consortium) digital key applications, it enables rapid product development for automotive access and initiation applications. The device also has additional features such as pairing or NFC card protection and a Qi charger. The device has very strong noise immunity, while reducing electromagnetic emissions and operating even under harsh conditions, simplifying certification.
The ST25R3920B includes an Advanced Analogue Front End (AFE) and a highly integrated data group framing system for ISO18092 passive and active initiators, ISO18092 passive and active receivers, NFC-A/B (ISO14443A/B) readers with higher bit rates, NFCF (FeliCa™) readers, up to Special stream and transparent modes for AFE and frame systems can be used to implement other custom protocols in reader or card emulation mode.
With its high RF power and dynamic power output, the ST25R3920B can drive antennas directly and efficiently, enabling long interaction distances even with the small antenna sizes commonly found in door handles. The device is also energy efficient, making it ideal for low power applications. the ST25R3920B provides low power card detection by measuring the amplitude or phase of the antenna signal, while minimising power consumption.
The ST25R3920B is designed to operate over a wide supply range of 2.6V to 5.5V and a wide peripheral IO voltage range of 1.65V to 5.5V.
The ST25R3920B automotive NFC reader is available in a VFQFPN32 package with wettable flanks for easy automatic optical inspection (AOI). The device is AEC-Q100 compliant and can be used in automotive applications.
