The CY15B108QN-50BKXI is a low-power 8-Mbit non-volatile memory using an advanced ferroelectric process. Ferroelectric Random Access Memory or F-RAM is non-volatile memory with read and write capabilities similar to RAM. It provides 151 years of reliable data retention while eliminating the complexity, overhead, and system-level reliability issues associated with serial flash, EEPROM, and other non-volatile memories.

Unlike serial Flash and EEPROM, the CY15X108QN performs writes at bus speed. There is no write latency. Data is written to the memory array as soon as each byte is successfully transferred to the device. No data polling is required to start the next bus cycle. In addition, the CY15X108QN offers high write endurance compared to other non-volatile memories; the CY15X108QN is capable of supporting 1015 read/write cycles, which is 100 million times the number of writes of an EEPROM.

These features make the CY15X108QN ideal for non-volatile memory applications that require frequent or fast writes. For example, in data acquisition, the number of write cycles can be critical; in demanding industrial control, long write times to serial Flash or EEPROM can result in data loss.
