The MPQ5066GQV-AEC1 is a hot-swap protection device designed to protect the circuitry at the outputs from transients at the inputs. It also protects its inputs from accidental short circuits and transients from the outputs.

During startup, the slew rate at the outputs limits the inrush current. An external capacitor connected to the SS pin controls the slew rate. The maximum output load is current-limited using an inductive FET topology, and a low-power resistor from the ISET pin to ground controls the magnitude of the current limit. An internal charge pump drives the gate of the power device, giving the power FET an ultra-low on-resistance of 7 mΩ. The MPQ5066 includes an IMON option that generates a voltage proportional to the current through the power device, which is set by the IMON pin ground resistor.
