Product Description

The ACS730KLCTR-20AB-T current sensor family offers 1 MHz bandwidth with a lightning fast 210 ns response time for AC or DC current detection in automotive, industrial, commercial, and communication systems. Designed for high-frequency switching applications, the devices can be used to replace high-frequency current transformers.


The ACS730KLCTR-20AB-T reduces overall BOM cost and PCB area while improving the quality of the customer's application, outperforming larger current transformers. Typical applications include power supplies, DC/DC converters, and chargers for the industrial and automotive markets. The package offers a 2400 VRMS 60 secondary isolation rating and can be used with up to 420 V AC, RMS or DC voltage rails.


The device features precision low bias linear Hall sensor circuitry and a copper current path near the surface of the wafer. The current applied through the copper current path generates a magnetic field that can be sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted to a proportional voltage. By placing the magnetic field in close proximity to the Hall sensor, device accuracy is optimised. The precise proportional voltage is provided by the Hall IC, which is programmed for post-package accuracy. The output of the device has a positive slope as the current increases through the primary copper conductor path (from pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4), which is used for current sensing. The conductor path has a conventional internal resistance of 1.2 mΩ for low power loss.


The terminals of the conduction path are electrically isolated from the sensor leads (pins 5-8). This allows the ACS730 current sensor to be used in high-end current sensing applications without the use of high-end differential amplifiers or other expensive isolation techniques.


The ACS730KLCTR-20AB-T is available in a low profile, surface mount SOIC8 package. The pin frames are 100% matte tin plated for compatibility with standard lead-free printed circuit board assembly processes. The device is internally Pb-free except for the current RoHS-exempt high-temperature Pb-containing solder balls used in the flip-chip method. The device is fully calibrated prior to factory shipment.
