The ACS756KCB-050B-PFF-T Current Sensor IC provides an affordable and accurate solution for AC or DC current measurement in industrial, automotive, commercial and communication systems. The devices are packaged for user-friendly applications. Common applications include motor control, load detection and management, power supply and overcurrent fault protection.
The device consists of a low-bias precision linear Hall sensor circuit with a copper current path near the surface of the wafer. The current applied through the copper current path generates a magnetic field that can be sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage. Device accuracy is optimised by placing the magnetic signal close to the Hall sensor. The precise proportional voltage is provided by a stable chopper-type low bias BiCMOS Hall IC that is factory programmed for accuracy.
When increasing the current in the primary copper conducting path (for current sensing) from terminal 4 to terminal 5, the output of the device has a positive slope (>VCC / 2). The internal resistance of this conductive path is 130 μΩ typical, with low power losses.
The thickness of the copper wire allows the device to operate at up to 5 times the overcurrent. The terminals of the current path are electrically insulated from the sensor pins (pins 1 to 3). This allows the ACS756 Sensor IC family to be used in applications that require electrical insulation but do not use photoinsulators or other expensive insulation techniques.
