The ACS722LLCTR-05AB-T current sensor ICs are an accurate and economical solution for AC and DC sensing in industrial, commercial and communication systems. The small package is ideal for applications where space is at a premium and also reduces cost due to reduced board area. Typical application areas include motor control, load detection and management, switching power supplies, and overcurrent fault protection.

The device features a precision, low offset linear Hall sensor circuit with a copper conduction path near the wafer surface. The applied current through this copper conduction path generates a magnetic field that can be sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted to a proportional voltage. Device accuracy is optimised by the proximity of the magnetic field to the Hall sensor. The accurate proportional voltage is provided by a low-bias, stable chopper BiCMOS Hall IC that includes Allegro's patented digital temperature compensation for ultra-accurate temperature-based performance. The output of the device has a positive slope as the current increases through the primary copper conductor path from pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4, which is used for current sensing.

The terminals of the conductor path are electrically isolated from the sensor leads (pins 5-8). This allows the ACS722 current sensor to be used in high level current sensing applications without the need for a high level side differential amplifier or other expensive isolation techniques.

The ACS722LLCTR-05AB-T is available in a small, low-profile, surface-mount SOIC8 package or a high-isolation-voltage surface-mount SOIC16W wide-body package. The leadframes are 100% matte tin plated for compatibility with standard lead (Pb)-free printed circuit board assembly processes.
