The Broadcom® ACHS-7123 product family is a family of fully integrated, Hall-effect based, isolated, linear current sensor devices designed for AC or DC current detection in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. Each ACHS-7123-500E device consists of a precision, low offset, linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path located near the chip surface. The applied current flowing through the copper conduction path creates a magnetic field, which the Hall IC converts to a proportional voltage. The accuracy of the device is optimised because the magnetic signal is very close to the Hall sensor.

Precisely proportional voltages are provided by a low offset, chopper-stabilised CMOS Hall integrated circuit, which is programmed after packaging to ensure accuracy. The output of the device has a positive slope (>VOUT(Q)) as increasing current flows through the primary copper conduction path (from pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4), which is used for current sampling.

The conductive path has a typical internal resistance of 0.7 mΩ and low power loss. The termination of the conductive path is electrically isolated from the signal leads (pins 5 to 8). These features are available in a compact, surface-mount SO-8 package that meets worldwide safety regulatory standards.
