Product Description

The FS26 is a family of automotive safety system base chips (SBCs) with multiple power supplies to support entry-level and mid-range safety microcontrollers (such as the S32K3 family), while maintaining the flexibility to accommodate other microcontrollers oriented towards automotive electrification, such as powertrain, chassis, functional safety and low-end gateway applications.

Featuring multiple switching regulators as well as LDO regulators to power microcontrollers, sensors, peripheral ICs and communication interfaces, the FS26 provides systems with not only a high precision reference voltage, 2 independent voltage tracking regulators for reference voltages, but also various functions for system control and diagnostics such as analogue multiplexers, general purpose IOs and optional wake-up events from I/Os, long timers or SPI communication.

Developed in accordance with ISO 26262, the FS26 offers enhanced safety features with multiple fault stop outputs and is a complete part of a functionally safe system partition covering ASIL B and ASIL D safety integrity levels, as well as the latest on-demand potential fault monitoring.

- Maximum DC input voltage of 40V

- Tight start-up operation with the aid of its BOOST controller (3.2V battery)

- Low power shutdown mode with very low sleep current (typical value: 30uA)

- Low power standby mode, VPRE activated. LDO1 or LDO2 can be selected for activation via OTP configuration (typical: 35uA)

- Multiple switching regulators as well as LDO regulators to power microcontrollers, sensors, peripheral ICs and communication interfaces

System solutions

- Space-saving and complexity-reducing systems: LDTs, AMUXs, dual trackers, Vrefs

- Long time timer (LDT) settable for system shutdown/wakeup control

- Optional wake-up sources: WAKE/GPIO pins, LDT or SPI activity

Functional safety

- Expandable product portfolio covering Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASIL) B to D

- Potential fault monitoring enabled while the system is running: ABIST on demand

- Independent monitoring circuitry

- Dedicated interface for microcontroller monitoring

- Simple watchdog and challenger watchdog functions

- Safety outputs with potential fault detection mechanism (RSTB, FS0B, FS1B)

Configuration and support

- LQFP48 pins with exposed pads for optimized thermal management

- Permanent device customisation via one-time programming (OTP) fuse memory

- Temporary OTP simulation mode for system development and evaluation

- Available with S32K3 + FS26 hardware and software
