Intel cooperates with Meta, Quest VR head display can be directly connected with computer Wi-Fi chip
Intel and Meta have jointly developed a new way. If your computer is configured with an AX1690 Wi-Fi chip, you can connect the Oculus Quest headset directly to the game PC.
On January 11, Beijing time, Intel and Meta jointly developed a new way. If your computer is configured with an AX1690 Wi-Fi chip, you can connect the Oculus Quest headset directly to the game PC. In this way, the headset can be directly connected to the computer through the chip, rather than through the router (via Wi-Fi Now).
Previously, Oculus Quest could connect to the game PC and play games such as Half Life: Alyx or Star Wars: Squadron through Wi-Fi or wired USB-C. However, due to the problem that instability is likely to be disconnected, the experience may not be so good. This new feature developed by Intel and Meta is based on an existing feature called dual connection technology (DCT) launched by Intel last year. This technology was originally used as a way to connect computers to 2.4GHz and 5GHz or 6GHz networks at the same time to improve bandwidth speed and stability. It can solve the problem of unstable network speed when playing games.
In addition, Intel spokesman Saviver Kim said that the new features are not applicable to the AX411 add-on card. Although it also provides Intel's dual-connection technology, it cannot be used with AMD chips and motherboards, because the AX1690 needs the features of Intel's 12th and 13th generation platforms to work. This also brings some limitations to the application of chips.
