In the 2022 BMW 3 Series sedan, the new Mobileye EyeQ5 Mid chip features a single front windscreen camera with an 8 megapixel image sensor and a 120 degree wide field of view. This marks the end of Mobileye's tri-focal camera module, which has three separate cameras with lower resolution and different fields of view.


Recent NCAP requirements ensure earlier detection of vulnerable road users and more accurate and reliable classification of objects in the field of view," said Strategy Analytics analysts. The move behind front windscreen camera integration will allow OEM customers to reduce hardware costs. However, smaller pixel sizes are required to achieve this increased camera resolution.
