Recently, ZTE announced that its product, ZTE Automotive OS V3.0, the automotive microkernel operating system, has been officially certified by the POSIX™ specification PSE52 Realtime Controller 1003.13™-2003 System, becoming the first company in China to receive this certification.

POSIX™ is a trademark of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and stands for "uni-X Portable Operating System Interface". Its goal is to simplify the task of cross-platform software development by developing a set of guidelines for operating system vendors to follow. Among other standardisation efforts, POSIX™ interfaces are widely implemented and referenced, including the Single UNIX Specification and the Linux Standard Library. They are widely present in IT infrastructures, from embedded systems, mobile devices, Internet routers, servers and workstations, right up to distributed supercomputers.

In the smart car space, good support for the POSIX™ specification is a key feature of an automotive operating system with high functional safety levels and a sure way to build a software ecosystem.

The certification of ZTE's automotive microkernel operating system is an official confirmation of its compliance by The Open Group, an international technical standards organization, and the IEEE, signifying that its ability to comply with the specification and support the software ecology has reached an advanced level in the industry. This capability enables middleware and applications related to smart connected vehicles to run more quickly and stably on the ZTE Automotive Microkernel OS, significantly reducing software development and migration costs, shortening project development and time-to-market cycles, and serving as an important guarantee of product competitiveness.
