December 8, the Tibet Autonomous Region Communications Administration public data show that Tibet has built 8,099 5G base stations, including 1,439 new ones in 2022, mainly covering various party and government units, hospitals, schools, residential areas and various large commercial areas, and has now achieved 5G network access in 74 county urban areas and key townships.

It is reported that the number of 5G users across Tibet has reached 719,000, with in-depth coverage of key application scenarios and basic coverage of gigabit fiber optic networks in urban and rural areas. It is worth mentioning that Puma Gangtang Township in Langkazi County, the highest township in the country, successfully opened a 5G base station in November this year, further enhancing the depth and breadth of mobile communication network coverage in Tibet's rural and remote areas.

In recent years, Tibet has accelerated the expansion of 5G network coverage, optimised indoor 5G network coverage in the main urban areas of the seven cities; strengthened in-depth coverage in traffic-dense areas such as transport hubs, large stadiums and attractions, and promoted the extension of 5G networks to counties and towns; optimised 5G coverage in industrial parks, factories and mines, and promoted the construction of 5G virtual private networks, further enhancing the depth and breadth of mobile communication network coverage in agricultural and pastoral areas and remote areas.

In addition, Tibet has also accelerated the integration of 5G applications in vertical industries such as education and healthcare, and cultivated a number of 5G application demonstration projects. At present, telemedicine based on 5G signals has helped the local community a lot, enabling some Tibetan farmers and herdsmen to connect to frontline medical resources and experience more advanced medical services through corresponding medical services.
