TSMC, a foundry, said today that it has officially started construction of its Kaohsiung plant after land consolidation and will achieve mass production in 2024 as planned.

On November 21, TSMC said today that the Kaohsiung plant has officially started construction after land consolidation and will achieve mass production in 2024 as planned.


TSMC's president had previously said at a legal conference that TSMC's 7nm process capacity utilization had slackened in the fourth quarter, resulting in a temporary delay in the construction of the 7nm plant in Kaohsiung, but no cancellation or change in planning, while the 28nm plant is still progressing as expected.


According to the report, TSMC's Kaohsiung plant is located in the Nanzhi Industrial Park, the former site of the CNPC Kaohsiung refinery. The Kaohsiung municipal government expects to combine the Qiaotou Science Park, Luke and Nanke to create a semiconductor industrial colony, which is expected to be in mass production in 2024.
