According to the Taiwan Economic Daily News, the semiconductor boom is down and TSMC has revised its capital expenditure for the second time. As a result, TSMC has temporarily cancelled the orders of its major customers for 3nm process.


At the same time, it appears that Apple's iPhone 14 / Pro chip orders have also been affected.

A Weibo blogger said today that "Apple is also unable to sell, cutting orders for TSMC's A16 and A15 processors, and the high-end Pro and Pro max are also being revised downwards". The high-end products here are probably the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max this year.


The blogger also said that "the Android phone market is likely to be worse than the iPhone, with MediaTek's 2023 mobile phone chip base down 20 percent from 2022."


A recent report by US investment bank Jefferies said that the rapid decline in weekly iPhone sales in China could signal a bigger challenge for Apple. This comes as iPhone sales have largely remained resilient in a global economic downturn.


Apple has reportedly asked Foxconn, PEGATRON and Lixin Precision to switch their iPhone 14 / Plus production lines to iPhone 14 Pro / Max, with demand for the iPhone 14 standard version less strong than the Pro model.
