Introduction: PGA411QPAPRQ1 Axial Angle Digitizer

The TI PGA411-Q1 device is an axis angle digitiser with an integrated excitation amplifier and a boost regulator power supply. The device is capable of simultaneously exciting a resolver sensor and reading sine and cosine angles from it. The PGA411-Q1 device integrates an excitation amplifier and a boost regulator power supply, resulting in lower bill of materials (BOM) costs and reduced printed circuit board (PCB) space by eliminating most external and passive components.


The PGA411-Q1 device also features an internal clock to generate a sine wave for sensor excitation. This analogue front-end (AFE) architecture allows the user to output angular position and velocity with 10-bit or 12-bit resolution. Because of its high level of integration, the PGA411-Q1 has diagnostic and protection features on every internal block in the device. The integrated diagnostic monitor can signal a fault status through a dedicated pin that can be used as an MCU interrupt. These features allow for flexibility in both decoder sensor selection and platform scalability. In addition, the PGA411-Q1 is designed for functional safety applications in accordance with ISO 26262 requirements.
