Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. announced on March 9 that in order to meet the medium and long-term demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), the company's subsidiary Izumo Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. plans to invest about 12 billion yen to build a new plant to increase MLCC production capacity.


According to the official introduction, Murata's new MLCC plant will start construction on March 24, 2022 and is expected to be completed in April 2023. The total floor area of the new plant reaches 22,120 square meters, with a construction area of 6,314 square meters. The main purpose is to produce multilayer ceramic capacitors.


Murata is the global leader in MLCC with a market share of about 40%. In order to meet the increase in demand, Murata has indicated that it will increase the production of MLCC at a rate of about 10% per year. According to the data, Izumo Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which is responsible for the development and production of ceramic capacitors.
