Product Description:

The A1696PKHTN is a combination product of a Hall effect sensor IC and EMC protection circuitry that provides a user-friendly PCB-free solution for true zero-speed digital crankshaft detection.The A1696 provides speed and direction information via a variable pulse width output protocol. The open-drain output provides a voltage output, the time between falling edges (period) corresponds to speed, and the time between the falling edge and the corresponding rising edge (pulse width) indicates direction. The device can be optimised for crankshaft sensing applications with programmable options and can be used to sense ring magnets or ferromagnetic targets (when back-biased with appropriate magnets).

Three Hall plates are used to create three differential channels. These channels, along with advanced direction detection algorithms, produce highly accurate outputs over the entire air gap and operating temperature range. The combination of high accuracy and directional information provides the absolute position of most crank targets in engine backlash situations, making it ideal for engine stop/start designs.The A1696 is available in a 3-pin SIP package (KH), is lead (Pb)-free, and the leadframes are 100 percent tinned.
