October 15, - Hyundai Mobis recently announced the successful development of an in-vehicle 5G communication module technology, which it says is based on 5G mobile communication technology and is seen as key to driving the development of high-capacity data processing and real-time connectivity technologies for autonomous driving and connected vehicles.

According to the report, the 5G communication module developed by Mobis integrates a communication chip, memory, RF circuitry and GPS into a single device that will be used in the future for telematics services for 5G connected vehicles.


Among other things, telematics refers to the use of mobile communication networks to share vehicle information with external control centres, such as remote vehicle control, OTA updates, real-time traffic data sharing and emergency call services, to provide drivers with a safer, more convenient and more entertaining driving experience.


It is understood that Mobis also plans to integrate the 5G communication module technology developed this time with the previously successfully developed V2X communication technology to provide an integrated solution for autonomous driving and connected vehicles. Mobis' 5G+V2X integrated solution will enable sensor information sharing between vehicles, collision avoidance, automatic deceleration in child-protected areas and automatic braking in emergency situations.
