Overview

The DRV8906-Q1 is a pin-to-pin compatible integrated multi-channel half-bridge driver with 6 half-bridges. The device has a low on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) for improved thermal performance during high current operation. The device is capable of driving brush direct current (BDC) motors or stepper motors in independent, sequential or parallel mode. The half-bridge is fully controllable to achieve forward, reverse, coasting and braking operation of the motor.

The device contains a number of protective and diagnostic functions, including nFAULT pins for alerting the system in the event of a failure. This device has a low current open load detection (OLD) mode for detecting open load conditions when the nominal load current is low and a passive OLD mode for offline OLD. The device also provides complete protection against short circuits, undervoltage and overheating.
