Molex introduces Percept, a new current sensor for industrial and automotive applications, designed to increase design flexibility and simplify system integration complexity.

- The current sensing solution uses Infineon's coil-less current sensors and differential Hall effect technology to ensure highly accurate current detection and excellent interference suppression;

- The unique electronics packaging technology significantly reduces the size and weight of the sensor, making it half the size and 86% lighter than similar products;

- The sensor is built into the busbar, making it a complete plug-and-play solution that significantly reduces development cycles, resources and costs;

- The more powerful current sensor is ideal for busbar current detection in industrial inverters, motor drives, and power distribution and charging systems.

August 1 - Molex, a leading global provider of electronic solutions, has launched the new current sensor Percept, which is designed to meet the growing demand for high-precision busbar current sensing technology in the industrial and automotive sectors. By combining Infineon's coil-less, high-precision current sensing technology with Molex's unique electronics packaging technology, the Percept sensor is optimised in terms of size and weight, while significantly reducing the complexity of installation and system integration.


The new Percept current sensors set a new benchmark for accuracy, reliability and ease of integration of current detection thanks to Infineon's coil-less sensing technology and our unique electronics packaging technology,’ said Lily Yeung, Director of Sensors at Molex Automotive Innovative Solutions. Together, we are saving space for our customers while improving product performance and reducing costs by simplifying major design and manufacturing processes.’


Smaller, Lighter, More Accurate Current Sensors


With a compact coil-less design and unique electronics packaging technology, Percept current sensors are 86% lighter and half the size of comparable products. This allows for higher density integration within the device, helping to reduce overall system weight while increasing design flexibility.


Molex's Percept current sensors are capable of sensing in environments where space is limited and sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI). These sensors provide measurement accuracy with an error of no more than 2% over a wide temperature range and over the entire product lifecycle, while demonstrating low sensitivity to interfering signals and device offset errors. In addition, Infineon's differential Hall effect sensor designs are resistant to interference from stray magnetic fields, which are common in demanding industrial motor drives and automotive applications.


Infineon's XENSIV™ TLE4973 and TLE4972 are part of our range of high-precision, coil-less magnetic current sensors with a measuring range of 0 to 2000 amperes, thus providing the flexibility to adapt to extremely large power ranges,’ said Matthias Grewe, vice president and head of the Magnetic Inductance product line at Infineon Technologies.
