Instructions:

The DRV8316C-Q1 integrates three H-bridges with an absolute maximum voltage of 40V and an ultra-low RDS(ON) of 95mΩ (high side + low side) to provide high power drive capability for 12V automotive grade brushless DC motors. The DRV8316C-Q1 provides integrated current detection, eliminating the need for external detection resistors. The DRV8316C-Q1 integrates a power management circuit, including a voltage adjustable step-down regulator (3.3V/ 5V, 200mA) and an LDO (3.3V/30mA) that can be used to power external circuits.


The DRV8316C-Q1 offers configurable 6x or 3x PWM control schemes that can be used to implement sensorless or sensorless field oriented control (FOC), sinusoidal control, or ladder control using an external microcontroller. The DRV8316C-Q1 is capable of driving PWM frequencies up to 200kHz. The DRV8316C-Q1 can be highly configured via SPI (DRV8316CR-Q1) or pin (DRV8316CT-Q1). PWM mode, swing rate, OCP level, current detection gain are some configurable features.

• Complies with AEC-Q100 standard for automotive applications

- Temperature Class 1: -40 °C ≤ TA ≤ 125°C

• Three-phase BLDC motor driver

- Cycle current limit to limit phase current

- PWM frequencies up to 200kHz are supported

- Active degaussing reduces power loss

• 4.5V to 35V operating voltage (absolute maximum 40V)

• High output current capability: 8A peak

• Low MOSFET on-state resistance

- When TA = 25°C, RDS(ON) (HS + LS) is 95 Mω (typical value).

• Low power sleep mode

- 2.5µA at VVM = 13.5V, TA = 25°C (Max.)

• Multiple control interface options

- 6x PWM control interface

- 3x PWM control interface

- 6x PWM control interface with cycle by cycle current limit

- 3x PWM control interface with period-by-cycle current limit

• No external current detection resistor required, built-in current detection function

• Flexible device configuration options

- DRV8316CR-Q1:5MHz 16-bit SPI interface for device configuration and fault state

- DRV8316CT-Q1: Hardware pin-based configuration

• Supports 1.8V, 3.3V, and 5V logical inputs

• Built-in 3.3V/5V, 200mA step-down regulator

• Built-in 3.3V, 30mA LDO regulator

• Delay compensation reduces duty cycle distortion

• Full set of integrated protection features

- Power Undervoltage lock (UVLO)

- Charge Pump Undervoltage (CPUV)

- Overcurrent Protection (OCP)

- Thermal Warning and Thermal Shutdown (OTW/OTSD)

- Fault condition indicator pin (nFAULT)

- The SPI interface can be used for fault diagnosis
