The L99MH98 automotive eight-channel half-bridge front driver can control up to 16 N-channel MOSFETs and is used in DC motor control applications, such as automotive electric seat control. The L99MH98 is packaged in VFQFPN48L and features exposed pads. This package also features a wettable side wing, facilitating visual inspection of solder joints. The 24-bit serial peripheral interface (SPI) configures and controls eight or four half-bridges. The SPI status register provides advanced diagnostic information, such as power supply voltage monitoring, charge pump voltage monitoring, temperature warnings, and overheat shutdown. Each gate driver independently monitors the fault conditions of the external MOSFET drain-source voltage.

The L99MH98 supports indirect current measurement on external MOSFETs, thereby saving costs and reducing system complexity, and avoiding the use of shunt resistors. More efficient gate current control for external MOSFETs (referred to as "three-stage gate current") can reduce and optimize electromagnetic interference (EMI). Protection features (drain-source monitoring for short circuit detection, overheat warning/shutdown, timeout watchdog for MCU control, and detailed off-state diagnosis via SPI) ensure that ASIL-B complies with ISO 26262 standards.
