The MAX16927AGTM is a highly integrated TFT-LCD power converter designed for automotive applications. It integrates boost, buck, cuk converters as well as VCOM buffers, gate drivers and SPI interfaces, and mainly features the following:

Operating voltage range: 4.5V to 16V (IN3) or 3V to 5.5V (INA)

The 16V input and 2A buck converter are used as the TFT bias power supply and/or to provide 3.3V power for other peripheral circuits

Flexible configuration, it can provide one high-power positive voltage output (18V/200mA) or one positive voltage output (18V/100mA) and one negative voltage output (-12V/100mA)

One positive voltage gate voltage converter

One negative voltage gate voltage controller

Dac-controlled VCOM buffer with ±1V bias

High-frequency work

2.1MHz (buck converter)

1.2MHz (boost and cuk converters)

The converter can operate in opposite phases to reduce EMI.

Introduction

The MAX16927AGTM integrates one buck converter, one boost converter, one cuk converter, two gate voltage controllers and two VCOM buffers, one of which supports negative voltage output. The MAX16927AGTM operates within the voltage range of 4.5V to 16V and is highly suitable for powering TFT-Lcds in automotive applications. In addition, the MAX16927AGTM can also operate on a power supply ranging from 3V to 5.5V.


The MAX16927AGTM is controlled and diagnosed via an internal SPI interface. The SPI interface regulates the output of the VCOM buffer through an internal 7-bit DAC, with an adjustment range of ±1V. The power-on and power-off sequence can be controlled through the SPI interface or one of the three preset single-machine modes.


The MAX16927AGTM is optimized to operate at ultra-low EMI and uses spread spectrum technology to suppress peak interference. The Buck converter always operates in spread spectrum mode, while the boost and cuk converters enable spread spectrum mode through an external input (SSEN). The Boost and cuk converters can operate with a 180-degree phase inversion, further reducing EMI.


In addition, the MAX16927AGTM includes an nMOS switch control output, allowing for flexible adjustment of the negative pressure VSL output sequence. The device also includes a pMOS switch driver to implement the True Shutdown™ boost converter.


The MAX16927AGTM is available in a 48-pin TQFN package with bare pads and operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
