Introduction
The MAX20049ATEF is a dual-channel step-down converter IC with two low dropout regulators (Ldos), providing a single-chip solution for automotive cameras. The two step-down converters are designed to operate in fixed-frequency PWM mode. The input voltage of the MAX20049ATEF ranges from 5V to 17V, and the dedicated high-voltage input allows for flexible solutions.
The MAX20049ATEF provides voltage monitoring for all four output voltage rails. When overvoltage or undervoltage is detected, the power supply will be pulled down. To support longer and cheaper coaxial cables, the MAX20049ATEF features a 500mV SUP1 hysteresis. Both buck converters offer very short conduction times and allow for a 0.9V output using a 17V input. High-frequency operation allows for the use of all-ceramic capacitor designs as well as small-sized external components. Low-resistance on-chip switches ensure high efficiency while minimizing critical inductance to the greatest extent.
The output voltage is set by the factory and covers various image sensors that require 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.9V, 2.8V or 2.7V. The second-level power supply covers typical ranges of 1.8V, 1.2V, 1.1V and below 1.0V. The MAX20049ATEF is suitable for serializers and memory. Multiple voltage options enhance the flexibility of camera design. Specific information is provided in the output voltage selection section.
The protection features of the MAX20049ATEF include period-by-cycle flow and thermal shutdown protection with automatic recovery function. The buck converters operate 180° inversely to each other, minimizing the input current ripple to the greatest extent.

The MAX20049ATEF is suitable for the power supply system design of automotive camera modules. It meets the miniaturization requirements by optimizing size and efficiency while reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
