VSC8575XKS-14 Device Overview

The VSC8575 is a low-power quad-port Gigabit Ethernet transceiver with four SerDes interfaces for quad-port dual media functionality. It also integrates a four-port, two-wire serial multiplexer (MUX) for controlling SFP or PoE modules. It features low electromagnetic interference (EMI) line drivers and integrated line-side termination resistors to save power and printed circuit board (PCB) space.The VSC8575-11 includes VeriTime™, Microsemi's patent-pending timing technology, which provides the industry's most accurate IEEE 1588v2 timing implementation.

The IEEE 1588v2 timing technology integrated in the VSC8575 device is the fastest, lowest-cost way to achieve timing accuracy, preserving existing timing-critical functionality during the migration from TDM to packet-based architectures.

The VSC8575 device supports both 1-step and 2-step PTP implementations, providing accuracy of less than 8 ns, which significantly reduces internal system latency and variability for common, boundary, and transparent clocking applications. In addition, full Y.1731 OAM performance monitoring capabilities, master, slave, boundary and transparent clock configurations, and complex classifications including UDP, IPv4, IPv6 packets and VLANs, as well as MPLS-TP encapsulation are supported.

The VSC8575 also supports a ring resiliency feature that allows 1000BASE-T connected PHY ports to switch between master and slave clocks without interrupting the 1000BASE-T link.
