Chip Overview Of FT4232HL

FT4232HL is a high-performance USB 2.0 to 4-channel serial UART interface chip with advanced USB protocol conversion technology, providing flexible and reliable serial communication solutions for modern electronic systems.

FT4232HL is FTDI’s 5th generation of USB devices. The FT4232HL is a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s) to UART IC. It has the capability of being configured in a variety of industry standard serial or parallel interfaces.

The FT4232HL features 4 UARTs. Two of these have an option to independently configure an MPSSE engine, this allows the FT4232HL to operate as two UART/Bit-Bang ports plus two MPSSE engines used to emulate JTAG, SPI, I2C, Bit-bang or other synchronous serial modes.

FT4232HL is available in Pb-free (RoHS compliant) 64-pin LQFP packages.

High-speed USB 2.0 interface: FT4232HL supports full-speed (12Mbps) and high-speed (480Mbps) USB data transmission to meet the needs of large bandwidth applications.

Four independent UART channels: Each channel can be independently configured with baud rate (300bps to 12Mbps), data bits (7/8 bits), stop bits (1/2 bits) and parity bits (odd/even/none).

Flexible operating modes: The FT4232HL supports synchronous/asynchronous serial communication modes and can be configured to RS232, RS422 or RS485 interface standards.

Wide operating voltage range: 3.3V or 5V power supply options, compatible with a variety of system designs

Industrial temperature range: -40°C to +85°C for harsh environments
