TDK further expands the capabilities of its Micronas HVC 5x embedded motor controller family for automotive applications with the introduction of the new HVC 5481G. The HVC 5481G is a programmable Soc gate driver chip that controls an external power bridge with six N-channel FETs to drive a wide range of actuators, fans and pumps. Samples of HVC 5481G are now available, with mass production expected to begin in 2026.
The HVC 5481G SoC is compatible with existing HVC 5x series software and integrates an ARM® Cortex®-M3 CPU with 64 KB of flash memory and 8 KB of SRAM. It is able to draw power directly from the 12 V automotive power supply rail and integrates a LIN transceiver for communication functions. The IC supports a variety of motor control algorithms, including sensorless 6-step commutation using BEMF detection and single-shunt FOC algorithms. The device is equipped with seven universal IO pins, an internal timer, and a capture comparison register for seamless integration with Micronas Hall effect or TDK TMR sensors.
The HVC 5481G, in a compact 5×5 mm PQFN32 package and certified to AEC-Q100 standard, provides a reliable and efficient solution for medium power BLDC applications. With its rugged design and advanced features, the HVC 5481G is ideal for automotive and industrial applications, ensuring high performance and adaptability.
