Product introduction

The DRV8353RHRGZR device is a highly integrated gate driver for three-phase brushless direct current (BLDC) motor application standards. These applications include field oriented control (FOC), sinusoidal current control, and ladder current control for BLDC motors. The device offers an optional integrated shunt amplifier to support different motor control schemes, as well as a step-down regulator to power a gate driver or an external controller.


The DRV835x uses an Intelligent Gate Drive (SGD) architecture to reduce the number of external components typically required for MOSFET change rate control and protection circuits. The SGD architecture also optimizes dead time to avoid breakdown problems, flexibly reduces electromagnetic interference (EMI) with MOSFET conversion rate control, and prevents gate short circuits with VGS monitors. A strong gate pull-down circuit helps avoid unwanted dV/dt parasitic gate opening events.

- High side multiplier charge pump enables 100% PWM duty cycle control

- Low side linear voltage regulator

• Integrated LM5008A step-down regulator

- Operating voltage range from 6V to 95V

- 2.5V to 75V, 350mA output capacity

• Integrated three current shunt amplifiers

- Adjustable gain (5, 10, 20, 40 V/V)

- Bidirectional or unidirectional support

• 6x, 3x, 1x and independent PWM modes

- Supports 120° sensor operation

• Provide SPI or hardware interface

• Low power sleep mode (20µA at VVM = 48V)

• Integrated protection features

- VM Undervoltage Lock (UVLO)

- Grid Drive Undervoltage (GDUV)

- MOSFET VDS Overcurrent Protection (OCP)

- MOSFET breakdown protection

- Gate Driver Failure (GDF)

- Thermal Warning and Thermal Shutdown (OTW/OTSD)

- Fault status Indicator (nFAULT)
