Description:

The MAX5805 is a single-channel, low-power, 12-bit voltage output digital/analog converter (DAC) with an output buffer and selectable 2.048V, 2.500V, or 4.096V reference. Powered by a wide voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V, the device has extremely low power consumption (< 1mW) and is suitable for most low-voltage applications. The external precision reference input is used to support full-width operation and has an equivalent load impedance of 100 kω (typical value) to the external reference.


The MAX5805 features an I2C compatible, 2-wire interface that operates at clock rates up to 400kHz. The DAC comes with a buffered output, providing a low supply current of 155µA (typical at 3V) and a low offset error of ±0.5mV (typical). When powered on, the MAX5805 resets the DAC output to zero, providing additional protection to the system, especially for solenoid valves or other sensors that need to be turned off when powered on. The internal reference is turned off during initial power-on. External reference can be used.

The DAC power supply current is as low as 155µA at 3V
