Overview:

The ALT80800 PWM Dimmable synchronous step-down LED driver is AEC-Q100 certified and provides a constant current output to drive high power leds. Integrates high - and low-end N-channel DMOS switches for DC-DC buck conversion and outputs true average current using a period-by-cycle control of on-time. While the user can select the output current through an external current detection resistor, the output voltage is automatically adjusted to drive a variety of leds in a single string, ensuring optimal efficiency. When EN is enabled, LED dimming is achieved through a direct logical input pulse width modulation (PWM) signal from a PWM pin. However, when the PWM pin is high, applying a PWM signal to the EN pin enables the "chopper battery" PWM dimming of the traditional control module.

The ALT80800 LED driver is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package with a bare cooling pad for enhanced heat dissipation.

Features:

• 55VIN rating (60V ABS Max) - can be used in traditional 12V cars and 24V trucks, as well as systems that use a pre-boost power supply, and then use the ALT80800 to drive a large number of leds

Integrated FETs - No external FETs or diodes are required as part of the step-down conversion for greater efficiency

• Reduced switching frequency jitter for EMI - required by OEM and minimized associated components

5V VCC can be used to deliver up to 14mA of current as a local power rail (for example, to power a small UC) - potentially eliminating LDO

• PWM and analog dimming options, including NTC temperature reentry or LED split control

• Adjustable LED open circuit fault shield setting for low VIN operation (differential pressure mode)
