SA: Global smartphone memory market revenue of $11.5 billion in Q1 2022
SA said the global smartphone memory market revenue in Q1 2022 will be $11.5 billion. Samsung holds the top spot in the smartphone memory market (DRAM & NAND) with a 46% share.
Mingjiada News, on July 8, Strategy Analytics released the latest research report today, giving some conditions of the smartphone memory market in Q1 in 2022.
SA said that the global smartphone memory market revenue in Q1 2022 will be $11.5 billion. Samsung holds the top spot in the smartphone memory market (DRAM & NAND) with a 46% share, followed by SK Hynix and Micron with 24% and 15% respectively. In other words, in the global smartphone memory market in the first quarter of this year, the total revenue share of the top three manufacturers reached 85%.
SA noted that the smartphone memory market saw a slight year-on-year decline due to seasonal slowdowns in end markets and disruptions to customer supply chains due to the outbreak in Q1 2022. However, as 5G gains momentum, shipments of higher-spec memory products have increased, as have NAND and DRAM for mid-to-high-end smartphones. Samsung Memory, SK Hynix, Micron Semiconductor, etc. were also affected by the downturn in the smartphone market.
With the expansion of UFS-based LPDDR5 multi-chip package (uMCP5) memory products and the introduction of LPDDR5X DRAM products this year, memory suppliers will continue to see increasing opportunities in the growing 5G smartphone market. "We note that weak end-market demand and a tough macroeconomic environment will impact the growth prospects of the smartphone memory market in 2022."
