Munich, Germany, 8 March 2025 - Infineon Technologies AG, the global semiconductor leader for power systems, automotive and IoT, has added support for computer vision to DEEPCRAFT™ Studio, expanding its current support for audio, radar and other time-series signal data. With this added support, the platform will be able to be used to develop low-power, low-memory AI vision models at the edge. This will come in handy for machine learning developers in a number of application areas, such as factories that can use it to enable real-time visual inspection of parts, machines that turn themselves off when approached, and smart home devices that can monitor objects, humans, or pets. In short, vision can open up enormous possibilities for edge AI applications.
DEEPCRAFT™ Vision Support
Alexander Samuelsson, Product Manager for DEEPCRAFT™ Studio, said, ‘This update to DEEPCRAFT™ Studio optimises every step of AI vision model development, from data acquisition and pre-processing all the way to model deployment. This means that we are providing developers with true end-to-end vision support. Infineon customers can add class-leading edge AI capabilities to their products with this support and Infineon PSOC™ Edge high-performance machine learning microcontrollers (MCUs).’
Infineon is demonstrating this functionality with a computer vision demo at Embedded World 2025 in Nuremberg this March. The demo will focus on the Ultralytics YOLO model-driven advanced object detection capabilities that help developers train customised computer vision solutions using DEEPCRAFT™ Studio. The use of Ultralytics YOLO models in DEEPCRAFT™ Studio both significantly reduces training time and maintains a high level of accuracy, increasing the speed and efficiency of AI deployments.
Combined with the platform's unique graphical user interface, these additions to DEEPCRAFT™ Studio will fuel model iteration during development. Developers can run models in real-time using their own computers and cameras, ensuring that models work as expected before deploying them to hardware, and speeding up development by making improvements to models before deployment.
Availability
The latest version of DEEPCRAFT™ Studio with vision support will be released in April. The platform will then be automatically updated after a reboot, and developers can first download Studio here to be able to use the new version as soon as it is released.
Infineon will be giving the first demonstration of DEEPCRAFT™ Studio vision capabilities at Embedded World.
Ultralytics, the leader in AI and creator of the Ultralytics YOLOv5, YOLOv8 and YOLO11 object detection models, is dedicated to enabling cutting-edge computer vision technology across a wide range of industries to make AI faster, smarter and easier to use around the world. It has over 72 million Pip downloads, over 100,000 GitHub follows, and over 5,000 research citations.
