STMicroelectronics (ST), the world's leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications; (NYSE :STM) has launched the first product of its strategic partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to streamline the development of next-generation industrial and consumer Internet of Things wireless solutions. The initial goal of this collaboration is to build on STMicroelectronics' robust STM32 ecosystem and leverage Qualcomm's leading wireless connectivity solutions to launch wireless iot modules for consumer and industrial markets.


The first module, the ST67W611M1, includes a Qualcomm® QCC743 Multi-protocol Connectivity System-on-chip (SoC) with pre-installed Wi-Fi6, Bluetooth 5.3 qualified, and Thread combo protocols. Easy integration with any STM32 microcontroller (MCU) or microprocessor (MPU). The module will support the Matter protocol over Wi-Fi, enabling future-proof wireless connectivity and enabling the STM32 portfolio to enter the Matter ecosystem. To facilitate system integration, the module also contains 4MB of code and data flash memory, as well as a 40MHz crystal oscillator. In addition, the module comes with an integrated PCB antenna or miniature RF (uFL) external antenna connector.

Advanced hardware security features are built into the module, including hardware encryption accelerators and services such as secure startup and secure commissioning, achieving PSA certified Level 1 protection. The module is a standalone product, pre-certified according to mandatory specifications, and there is no requirement for developers to have RF design expertise. The module integrates many functions in a 32-pin LGA package and can be mounted directly on the board, making it possible to use a simple, low-cost two-layer PCB board.


The ST67W611M1 relies on the STM32 ecosystem. The ecosystem includes more than 4,000 products, powerful STM32Cube tools and software, and hardware and software that facilitate Edge AI development, including the recently launched STM32N6 MCU and ST Edge AI Suite software. STM32N6 MCU integrates Neural network processor developed by STMicroelectronics, neural-art Accelerator; ST Edge AI Suite provides the AI Model Zoo module library as well as STM32Cube.AI and NanoEdge AI optimization tools.


These modules are designed to integrate quickly with any STM32 microcontroller or STM32 microprocessor, providing customers with flexible, wide range of performance, price and power options. The existing microcontroller portfolio covers the full range of low -, mid - and high-end applications, from cost - and power-sensitive products with Arm® Cortex-M0 + cores to microcontrollers based on high-performance cores, such as the STM32MP1/2 MPU with Cortex-M4 and Cortex-A7.
