Overview:

The High Power Card Edge (HPCE®) connector is a new generation of power card edge connectors for demanding applications requiring high linear current densities and low power loss.The HPCE has a low profile height (7.50 mm) and utilises cost-effective, high-reliability stamped and formed power contact technology similar to that of other FCI power solutions.

The HPCE® features an innovative power contact and enclosure design that provides a more compact, low-profile package for demanding AC and DC power and/or plug-in card applications. The HPCE's low-profile height (which maximises airflow), dramatically increased linear current density, and low contact resistance characteristics make it ideal for next-generation 1U/2U servers, storage chassis, telecom equipment, and datacom/network equipment. The HPCE® integrates power and signal contacts into a single moulded enclosure for power distribution and power control. Similar to FCI's other power solutions, the HPCE® uses modular tooling to make the product highly configurable in the number and location of power and signal contacts to meet custom power needs.

The HPCE® is rated at 9A per power contact bundle (when multiple power contacts are fully energised) and has a temperature rise in still air of no more than 30°C. The innovative design minimises the connector's footprint, and the ruggedised housing includes an anti-shock safety feature and a polarisation feature to ensure correct mating. Vertical, right angle and straddle mounting options are available to accommodate a variety of system architectures.
