A global shortage of computer chips that has plagued the world for the past two years could soon spread to more advanced chips used to power next-generation smartphones and data center workloads, according to reports.
The two-year chip drought has so far only really affected low-end chips, but that could change as semiconductor makers run into production problems and struggle to get the manufacturing equipment they need to make more advanced processors.
