Nexperia has introduced a new line of ultra-low static current Universal Low Voltage Difference (LDO) regulators that comply with the AEC-Q100 standard. The new series also includes a high-precision LDO with output following, integrated output protection, and a wide input voltage range, so it can be directly connected to the car battery. These Ldos are thermally optimized to provide a stable voltage source under cold start conditions for ripple sensitive loads in automotive applications such as infotainment systems, ADAS, telematics and lighting systems. The LDO with output following provides excellent output protection and performance in body control modules, area control units and powertrains for use in scenarios involving out-of-vehicle loads such as sensors. In addition to automotive applications, these Ldos are also suitable for industrial applications, including power tools, electric bicycles and battery packs.

In battery-powered automotive applications, low static current (Iq) and shutdown current (ISHUT) are critical for energy savings and extended battery life. Normally open systems require maintaining an ultra-low Iq and a stable output over the entire temperature range. The CAN wake system and some systems with a sleep state require ultra-low ISHUT to minimize power consumption in deep sleep (shutdown) mode. This series of Ldos has outstanding energy efficiency, with static current as low as 5.3 μA (typical) under light load and turn-off current as low as 300 nA (typical) in shutdown mode. It is the ideal power supply choice for normally open components such as microcontrollers (MCUS), controller local area network (CAN) or Local Area Internet (LIN) transceivers in standby and CAN wake systems.

The LDO with output follow can also further meet the needs of PCB off-board power supply scenarios (such as sensor power supply). Such applications typically require highly reliable output protection against potential risks such as short circuits to the ground, short circuits to the battery, and reverse currents. To address these challenges, the following LDO in the family integrates comprehensive protection mechanisms to ensure stable operation in harsh environments. In addition, in proportional sensing or measurement applications, these Ldos provide excellent output accuracy, with an output error of only ±5 mV when following the supply voltage of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) or MCU.

The general purpose LDO provides a stable 3.3V or 5V output (accuracy up to ±2%) over a wide input voltage range of 3-40 V, and can be connected directly to the automotive battery without the need for additional pre-regulator circuits. The series of Ldos integrates short-circuit protection, overcurrent protection and thermal shut-off protection, and can operate stably in the range of -40 ° C to 125 ° C (ambient temperature) or -40 ° C to 150 ° C (junction temperature). In addition, some of the devices in this family are equipped with Power Good (PG) output voltage status monitoring, which can be used to support functional safety-related system designs.

The NEX90x30-Q100 LDO has a 300 mA output current capability and is available in a variety of package options, including a heat-optimized, bottom-cooled 8-pin HTSSOP package (3 mm x3 mm) and a DFN6 package (2 mm x 2 mm). For lower load current applications, the NEX90x15-Q100 device offers 150 mA output current for a higher cost performance and offers flexible package options such as SOT23-5, SOT223-4 and HWSON6 (DFN-6). The NEX91207-Q100 follows the LDO with 70mA output current and is available in SOT23-5 and SOT23-5S packages.
