Molex introduces its compact MMCX Power over Coax (PoC) solution. The solution uses patent-pending connection technology to ensure a safe, stable connection and maintain electrical ground continuity. This innovative product is particularly suitable for space-constrained applications that require reliable RF connectivity and continuous power supply, such as automotive liquid crystal display (LCD) mirrors, driver monitoring systems or industrial sensors.

Roger Kauffman, senior director of RF product Management and Marketing at Molex, said: "Our new MMCX coaxial power solution includes a fully locked connection mechanism designed to overcome known weaknesses in traditional MMCX plug connectors, avoiding signal interruptions and intermittent power supply instability. Over the past year, the solution has performed well in a variety of environments, including light sensors for critical industrial safety applications."

Backward compatible and compact connection

MMCX Coaxial Power Supply (PoC) products not only address ongoing reliability issues, but are also backward compatible with the IEC 61169-52 standard MMCX interface for seamless upgrades. This eliminates the need to redesign existing PCB sockets, saving a lot of time and reducing product integration costs. Compliant with current and future standards, it provides customers with future-proof solutions to meet changing RF connectivity and power transmission needs.

This compact product is 30% smaller than traditional MMC connectors and is ideal for replacing larger, heavier MCX connectors with more powerful and reliable performance. The MMCX coaxial power supply is particularly advantageous in applications where the power supply and data connector need to be separated. To date, the solution has been tested and deployed in a variety of scenarios, including agriculture, automotive and industrial automation.
