Inova Semiconductors has announced the INLT220Q, a mixed-signal transceiver for automotive ISELED lighting and Sensor networks (ILaS). The integrated circuit establishes a 2 Mbit/s and low latency Daisy chain connection on a simple unshielded twisted pair cable (UTP) several meters long.

The device enables the construction of a centrally controlled, robust automotive ISELED LED network through sensors and actuators. The in-vehicle ILaS network can consist of up to 4,079 independent addressable nodes. The network adopts packet switched communication protocol. Nodes can be configured as branch devices or INLT220Q devices for client devices, such as ISELED smart leds or simple sensor subsystems connected via UTP cables.


By providing two cable interfaces (ISP, ESP) and one ISELED component interface (chip-to-chip, CSP), the transceiver IC provides a high degree of flexibility for creating branch networks. The other three GPIOs can be used to control sensors such as buttons and switches, as well as actuators such as haptic feedback vibration motors. The integrated DC/DC buck converter provides power directly from the battery.


The INLT220Q ILaS transceiver also includes A temperature sensor and an A/D converter to monitor the operating voltage and ambient temperature of the device. In addition, it integrates OTP memory, where the user can store the relevant information of the product (manufacturer ID, batch number, etc.) as well as the network address. This means that even if individual components fail, the rest of the network devices can still be controlled without having to adjust the addressing table in the software. OTP memory is programmed through the ILaS protocol and can be done by the supplier or device manufacturer itself.


Reliability

The equipment is AEC-Q100 certified and operates in a temperature range of -40 °C to +105°C. Inova offers integrated circuits in 5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm wetQFN-20 packages with a pitch of 0.65mm. INLT220Q is now available in samples and small batches, which can be purchased royalty-free worldwide.
