Product introduction

The ICM-40608 is a 6-axis motion sensor that combines a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer in a 2.5x3x0.91 mm (14-pin LGA) package. It also has a 2K byte FIFO that reduces traffic on the serial bus interface and reduces power consumption by allowing the system processor to burst read sensor data and then enter low-power mode.

The ICM-40608 features 6-axis integration that eliminates the need for costly and complex selection, identification, and system-level integration of discrete devices for manufacturers to provide consumers with optimal motion performance. The gyroscope supports eight independently programmable full scale range Settings, ranging from ±15.625dps to ±2000dps, and the accelerometer supports four independently programmable full scale range Settings, ranging from ±2g to ±16g. Other industry-leading features include on-chip 16-bit ADCs, programmable digital filters, embedded temperature sensors, and programmable interrupts.


The device has I2C and SPI serial interfaces with VDD operating range of 1.71V to 3.6V and a separate VDDIO operating range of 1.71V to 3.6V. The host interface can be configured to support I2C slave mode or SPI slave mode. The I2C interface supports speeds up to 1MHz and the SPI interface supports speeds up to 24 MHz. By leveraging its patented and batch proven CMOS-MEMS manufacturing platform, which integrates MEMS wafers with supporting CMOS electronics through wafer level bonding, InvenSense has reduced package sizes to 2.5x3x0.91 mm (14 pin LGA) in size and thickness. To provide a very small but high performance low cost package. The device provides high robustness by supporting 20000g shock reliability.

• User can select gyro full scale range (dps) :

62.5/125-15.2/31.2 / / 250/500/1000/2000, the user can choose accelerometer full scale range (g) : plus or minus 2/4/8/16

User programmable digital filters for gyroscopes, acceleration and temperature sensors

• APEX Motion features:

Pedometer, tilt detection, tap detection

Motor arousal, arousal/sleep, important motor detection

• Host interface: 1 MHz I2C, 24 MHz SPI
