Product Introduction:

The fourth-generation SHARC® processor ADSP-21487KSWZ-2B offers improved performance with hardware-based filter accelerators, audio and application-specific peripherals, and a new memory configuration that supports the latest surround sound decoder algorithms. All devices are pin-compatible with each other and are fully code compatible with all previous SHARC processors. These latest members of the fourth-generation SHARC processor family are based on a single instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) core that supports 32-bit fixed-point and 32/40-bit floating-point algorithm formats, making them ideal for high-performance audio applications.


The ADSP-21487KSWZ-2B offers higher performance - 450 MHz/2700 MFLOP - in an LQFP package and is part of the fourth-generation SHARC processor family. This level of performance makes the ADSP-21487 ideal for consumer audio applications. The ADSP-21487 not only has high kernel performance, but also built-in additional algorithm modules such as FIR, IIR and FFT accelerators, which can greatly improve the overall performance of the system. The Variable Instruction Set Architecture (VISA) is one of its new features, which can reduce code by 20 to 30 percent, thereby improving memory availability. The fourth-generation DSP provides a seamless interface for 16-bit wide SDR SDRAM to connect to external memory.
