On 20 December, STMicroelectronics, a leading global semiconductor supplier, introduced a new biosensing chip for next-generation medical wearables such as smartwatches, sports bracelets, smart rings or smart glasses.The ST1VAFE3BX chip combines high-precision biopotential inputs with ST's proven inertial sensing and AI cores to perform activity detection in the chip to ensure that chip applications The ST1VAFE3BX chip combines high-precision biopotential inputs with ST's proven inertial sensing and AI core to perform activity detection in the chip to ensure faster performance and lower power consumption on chip applications.
The ST1VAFE3BX chip offers the opportunity to extend wearable applications from the wrist to other locations on the body, such as smart patches where the chip is used for lifestyle or medical monitoring purposes. ST's customers BM Innovations GmbH (BMI) and Pison are working at the forefront of this chip space and are rapidly adopting new sensors to drive the development of new chip products.
The ST1VAFE3BX chip is now in production in a 2mm x 2mm 12-pin LGA package.
