Samsung is reported to be in talks to increase chip manufacturing prices by up to 20%.
According to a report on the 13th, Samsung is reported to discuss raising the price of chip manufacturing by up to 20%.
Samsung's sharp price increase this time will stumped many IC design manufacturers. According to people familiar with the matter, the reason for the price increase is that the whole industry is pushing prices up in response to rising pressure on materials and logistics costs.
Depending on the level of complexity, contract-based chip prices could rise by about 15% to 20%, with traditional processes more expensive than advanced ones, according to people familiar with the matter.
Previously, there were rumors that Samsung's 3nm process technology encountered difficulties, and the yield rate was only 20% to 30%, which may delay the process of mass production. However, the yield problem of Samsung's 3nm process has been resolved recently, and mass production will begin in the second quarter as planned.
The new pricing will be implemented from the second half of this year, and Samsung has completed consultations with some customers but is still in discussions with others.
