Renesas Electronics Corporation recently announced the introduction of the RA8E1 and RA8E2 microcontroller (MCU) product group, further expanding its industry-leading and popular MCU family. The RA8 series MCUS introduced in 2023 are the first MCUS to feature Arm Cortex-M85 processors, achieving market-leading 6.39 CoreMark/MHz performance. The new RA8E1 and RA8E2 MCUS maintain the same performance while reducing costs by streamlining the feature set, making them ideal for high-volume applications such as industrial and home automation, office equipment, healthcare and consumer products.


The RA8E1 and RA8E2 MCUS use Arm Helium™ technology, Arm's M-Profile vector extension, to achieve up to four times better performance in digital signal processor (DSP) and machine learning (ML) applications compared to Arm Cortex-M7 processor-based MCUS. Enabling applications in the rapidly growing field of AIoT - where high performance is critical to the execution of AI models.


The RA8 family of products integrates low power features and multiple low power modes to further improve energy efficiency while delivering industry-leading performance. Low power mode, separate power domain, lower voltage range, fast wake up time, and lower combination of typical operating and standby currents result in lower overall system power consumption. Helps customers reduce overall system power consumption and meet regulatory requirements. The new Arm Cortex-M85 core can also perform a variety of DSP/ML tasks with lower power consumption.


The RA8 series MCUS are supported by the Renesas Flexible Configuration Package (FSP). FSP speeds up application development by bringing all the infrastructure software you need, including multiple RTOS, BSPS, peripheral drivers, middleware, connectivity, networking, and TrustZone support, as well as reference software for building complex AI, motor control, and cloud solutions. It allows customers to integrate their own existing code and selected RTOS with the FSP, creating full flexibility for application development. With FSP, it is easy to migrate existing designs to the new RA8 family.

Storage: Integrated 1MB flash memory, 544KB SRAM (including 32KB TCM with ECC, 512KB user SRAM with parity protection), 1KB standby SRAM, and 32KB I/D cache
