Apple expects ongoing supply issues to impact product sales in the third quarter
Apple expects ongoing supply issues to continue to impact product sales in the third (fiscal) quarter of 2022.
Apple expects continued supply issues to continue to impact product sales in the third (fiscal) quarter of 2022, the report said. In the second (fiscal) quarter, Apple had some difficulty meeting demand for iPhones, iPads and Macs due to supply constraints, and this situation will get worse in the third quarter of 2022.
Apple's chief financial officer said the Covid-19 situation in China and a shortage of chips made it difficult to produce enough to meet customer demand.
The Apple CEO said supply problems were concentrated in Shanghai, and while almost all factories are now reopening, it will take some time for them to return to standard production levels. The supply crunch will cost Apple $4 billion to $8 billion, depending on how long it takes for suppliers in China to resume operations.
So far, the supply issues have mostly affected iPad and high-end MacBook Pro models. Going forward, most product categories will be affected, which will ultimately impact Apple's June quarter revenue, the CEO said.
