Global leaders have raised prices

The head-concentration effect of international manufacturers in the field of automotive MCUs is remarkable. Analysts from TrendForce told China Electronics News that the current global automotive MCU market is dominated by six major international IDM manufacturers, namely STMicroelectronics, NXP, Renesas, Infineon, Texas Instruments, and Microchip Technology. Occupy, the global market share of these manufacturers exceeds 80%, controlling the market trend of MCU.

Recently, Renesas, Infineon, NXP, STMicroelectronics and other companies' orders for automotive MCUs in 2022 are almost full, and the news of price increases continues. On March 24, STMicroelectronics publicly stated that it would raise prices for all product lines, including existing backlogs, in the second quarter of this year. ST's general-purpose MCUs were the main driver of its order growth. As the accelerated transformation of the automotive market requires more structural components, the application of industrial electrification and automation increases, and more products such as MCUs are required, and the strong demand leads to a shortage of supply.

With the rapid popularization of products in emerging fields such as smart home, health care, Internet of Things, and new energy, the global demand for MCUs is growing rapidly. Design and other aspects have also put forward new requirements.
