According to Korean media reports, the new Korean government plans to launch a 6G communication prototype in 2026 and commercialize it from 2028 to 2030.
6G communication is characterized by zero latency, i.e. no waiting to connect. Global commercialization is expected to take place in the late 2020s or 2030, with South Korea's new government aiming to do so sooner.
However, there is no clear specification information for South Korea's 6G plan. Samsung conducted a 6G test in the United States at the end of last year, using a 6G terahertz wireless communication prototype system to achieve data transmission within a distance of 15 meters, and the transmission rate reached 6.2Gbps. The frequency of the computer system is 140GHz and the bandwidth is 2GHz.
Samsung said in its "Next Generation Hyper-Connectivity Experience" white paper released as early as 2020 that the completion and earliest commercialization of the 6G standard may be in 2028, and large-scale commercialization may be around 2030.
It is reported that B5G or 6G technology research is being launched all over the world, but it is far from reaching the stage of "unified 6G definition". Think 5G + air network = 6G.
It is understood that all countries have now joined the 6G race, after Nikkei and Tokyo-based research firm Cyber Creative Institute investigated about 20,000 patent applications for nine core 6G technologies, including communications, quantum technology, base stations and artificial intelligence. Countries with more patent filings tend to lead in advanced technologies and thus have a greater say in industry standards.
