The BQ24800RUYR device is a high-efficiency synchronous buck multi-chemistry battery charger that supports 1, 2, 3, or 4-cell series-connected lithium-ion batteries or other battery chemistries with voltages up to 19.2V.

The host microcontroller can program the charge current, charge voltage, input current limit and discharge current limit via SMBus with high regulation accuracy. In addition, the BQ24800RUYR supports two levels of input current limiting (peak power mode) to fully utilise the adapter function and reduce battery discharge.The BQ24800RUYR provides adapter current (IADP), battery discharge current (IDCHG), and system power supply (PMON) signals to the host microcontroller and outputs PROCHOT signals to reduce CPU speed, as required. The BQ24800 supports hybrid boost.

The BQ24800RUYR supports a hybrid boost mode that raises the battery voltage to supplement the adapter when the system power demand is temporarily higher than the adapter can provide. When the adapter is not present, the BQ24800RUYR supports a battery-only boost mode to raise the battery voltage above the minimum system operating voltage to provide more margin to support system transients.
